-| NPC TEXT |-

This is not the text of every NPC in the game, but I think we got most of the important ones. This includes the text from every town and every dungeon, as well as a few other key locations.

TOWNS:

Start:
“You will need this sword to start your long adventure. The first is hidden in Three Eye Rock, but first you need to go to New Kasuto to find a bomb bag. Go east into the mountains. Be sure to enter the blue warp to the east. South of the mountain is a desert hiding Level 1.”
“Some “Guardian” sleeps north of here, and you will need to wake it with the whistle. In the mountains south of here lies the Great Palace. It's a military base now but I'm sure they have some good weapons.

New Kasuto
“Head southwest into the desert; bombs will be needed in Three Eye Rock. Bring some money for a new bomb bag, too. Then, west of the desert is Old Kasuto, from the days before we had to hide in the mountains.”
“I don't suppose you have enough to buy the bow, do you? I really could use the cash.”
“I hear you want to head to Old Kasuto. You will need this bomb bag to unblock the path. I'll sell you mine for cheap. Now I just want peace.”

Castle Town
“When North Castle fell this palace came under military guard. The king himself sits inside this palace. He can help, but you'll have to find him.”
“This is all military surplus, so it's cheap and average quality.”
“A boomerang will let you get through this game, but it won't be easy.”

Kakariko Village
“Hey. If you keep quiet where I'm hiding, I'll give you this.”
“I was hoping I could keep this, but I guess not. Next time, maybe.”
“Welcome. We can sell you potions since you have approval from King Lido.”
“Think you can make a little money? Try your luck, son.”
“Have you found any fairy springs outdoors? Look around nearby and you'll get a chance to meet one of the sisters. They can teach you magic if you can pass their test. Spryte is nearby, east and north of here, but I do not know where Oberon and Miff are hiding.”
“The sandy area east of the town is called the Magical Shortcut. I've tried to break a way in but regular bombs must not have enough power.”
“Those damn Moblins are always terrorizing us. Oh well. See anything?”
Info Shop:
“I need to make a living, but I can give you a discount on information.”
$30 – “The Moblin Brothers have wooden arrows, they live in the eastern-most part of the forest. In fact, they call that area the Moblin Woods.”
$40 – “The serpents are holding the boomerang at the top of a mountain in the woods east and a little bit north.”
$50 – “North of here, there is an abandoned mansion. It holds the whistle, but you will need a bow and arrow to kill the dungeon boss.”
“Good to see you. My name is Impa, and I am here to help you. I can teach you the slash technique. It will be useful should you want to get to the Lost Woods west of here. You will also need the power bracelet, which is hidden on Maze Island in northeast Hyrule, I have seen a Guardian blocking your path. If you need help, look in the <<directions to info shop removed>>.”

Nabooru

This is from Nabooru Village, north of the ghoma statue (which actually is where the Guardian in zelda 2 sat until you got the whistle). There's something there you might miss without knowing the text.

"A heart container piece. Hidden in the mountian. Through the caves......."

"These people are kind to let me stay in town. I used to live in Darunia, home of the famous magic boomerang. I liked being at the north-west shore."

"I hear there's a guy who sells potions illegally. Somwhere near Kakariko, in a familiar corner. If you find the right spot, he might open up shop."

"Walk along the south bank of the river to get to a piece of heart."

Darunia

“I am the best explosives expert in eastern Hyrule so check out my bombs.”

“Welcome. We can sell you potions since you have approval from King Lido.”

“It's nice up here on the beach. The plains to our east are very nice, too.”

“Take it, I don't need it and I am sure it'll help you on your quest.”

Info Shop

“I've heard things about all sorts of places in Hyrule. Want to know?”

$30 – You'll need to go back to Maze Island when you have the hookshot and flippers in order to get two of the pieces of heart around it.”

$50 – Near Kakariko Village, both Spryte's Fountain and the Magical Shortcut can be opened up if you use a superbomb.”

$60 - “Follow the riverbank on the other side of the bridge near Kakariko Village to get some nice armor. Better bring some money with you.”

Foot of Death Mountain and Lost Woods

“If you want to see the master, bring me the tasty item that's hidden underneath an armos. Between two nines, that's my only hint.”

“Welcome. Have you seen the Gamblers yet? They have the bigger wallets.”

“This path takes you into the mountains. You won't be able to go to the Graveyard, there's a gate locked from the other side. Explore to the north and east. By the way, did you see the famous armor master yet?”

“The cave west of here is a maze that leads to the town of Saria on the other side of Death Mtn. If you want to pass, you will require a hookshot. West of that cave is the passage to climb Death Mountain.”

“The Secret Grave is an old legend about a magic wand. It can't be true but it is this graveyard where it's supposed to exist. I never found it, but I did find something interesting in the northeast quarter.”

“You can get secret money in the Lost Woods if you know where to look. Go WSSEW twice to get some, then ENE from there to get more. I just can't remember where you start from to find it.”

Lost Woods Info Shop 1 - This is the lady in the far far southwest corner of the map. You need to get through a simple lost woods maze screen to get to her cave.

"The Lost Woods doesn't keep secrets from me. Be sure to write this down."

$20 - "The only thing hidden in the Lost Woods is a cave called the Lost Bastion. Under a lake hides the entrance. You should get the wand from the Secret Grave first, though. And just keep going east to get back from here."

$40 - "Two reference points out of the maze are used to cross it, between those two points. Both involve death somehow."

$70 - "Point 1 -> Point 2: WSSEWNESSSNNWWSSWWNNW. Point 2 -> Point 1: ESEEEEEEEEEENN. Cross the woods and talk to my sister, she will tell you about the cave."

Lost Woods Info Shop 2 - This is the lady after you get across the big part of the Lost Woods.

"Oh, did my sister send you here? Well, you'll have to solve my riddle."

$40 - "Well, Point 3 -> Point 1 is easy. Just EESES. The tricky part is getting from Point 2 -> Point 3. Just write down NEENS."

$40 - "The lake looks normal at Point 3, but something will make it dry up. Also, write down this: NNWENN, it's use will be made clear soon."

$40 - "EEWWSN, write it down. Put the three pieces in the correct order. On the map, you move north twice, then east twice, and last north."

Saria

“Saria is nice, but I used to live in Mido east of here. It is home to a great swordsmith, but the path is blocked, so you can't get there anymore. Maybe you could pass with the hammer in Tantari Cave.”

“When it's windy, a grove of trees on the northern bank whistles sometimes.”

“Welcome to Saria. Your trek through the Death Mountain Caves must have made you weary. Not many come through Death Mountain Pass.

“Welcome, is there anything I can help you with?”

“I am an expert at making explosives. Test the big one outside my shop.”

“Northeast of here is Midoro Swamp, but Midoro Palace isn't a place you can reach yet. Instead, go through Moruge Swamp, north of here. There's a cave that will bring you to Rute, a town in the far northwest. Bagu is able to help you out, if you can find his home in the woods outside Saria.”

“Welcome. We can sell you potions since you have approval from King Lido.”

“Bagu hides his home to the northeast, not far from here. You need to burn a bush, 3 and 4 from the road's bend whatever that means.”

Ruto

“You will require luck to get through this game. Dancing should help.” <<<just a note this is the hardest heart container piece to get, and if you get the trick it can take between 1 and 5 minutes.>>>

“This is the mountain town of Ruto. Not much is here, but you can get a bomb upgrade and a couple of items for sale that maybe you missed. You should head to Rauru from here. Just follow the road east into the dark forest. The town is on the road near the warp. Bring some rupees.”

“We used to play in a small oasis south in Parapa Desert.”

“Hey. We have a discount on all items here. This is a great bargain.”

“Would you like to be able to carry more bombs for a price?”

Info shop:

“Want to know what lies east of this town? I can tell you much.”

$50 - “Tantari desert has a steady wind, so it can be hard to see. Although it's much safer than Parapa Desert, farther east. Not even merchants travel there anymore. It began right around the time Ganon attacked.”

$30 - “Old kings tomb holds a treasure but the false one will lead you to something much more grand.”

$70 - “Ruto is not very famous, but Rauru is home to a crafter of mighty armor, and a great swordsmith lives in Mido. Mido also has a demolitions store.”

Outside North Castle

“North Castle was overrun by Ganon. The bridge was burned, but you need the Triforce before you face him. Go to Rauru east of here if you need help.”

Rauru

“Welcome, we have the best armor you can buy in Hyrule.”

“I hear Mido is nice. It is a port town, so they get lots of business.”

“I saw a quiet old woman, she was in the woods directly east of here.”

Info Shop

“Hey. I can help you if you don't know where you should be going.”

$60 - “You will find the hammer in a cave in the Tantari Desert to the northwest.”

$80 - “The forest top the east holds a cave to Parapa Desert. Parapa Palace is the sixth triforce piece and the Lens of Truth, a magical item.”

$35 - “The North Castle was taken over soon after it was completed. You won't be able to go there yet. Ganon supposedly resides there right now.”

Mido

“I am a master swordsmith but there is one blade that's better than mine.”

“East of here, before the other shore, there's a place you should look.”

“Take it, I don't need it and I am sure it'll help you on your quest.”

“Wouldn't more bombs be useful on your adventure through Hyrule?”

“Think you can make a little money? Try your luck, son.”

Info Shop

“If you need some help with the area, let me know.”

$45 - “South is the Old King's Tomb. There is a secret nearby.”

$30 - “The Island Palace can open up the path to Death Mountain.”

$60 - “West of the island, a small sandbar is hiding a small secret.”

Death Mountain

“Death Mountain is home to the last piece of the triforce. You'll also find a couple heart container pieces up here somewhere.”

North Castle Town

“A house here hides the secret entrance to the castle, if you're ready.”

“Hey, I'll help you out if you give me some of your rupies. Heh heh....”

“I won't let you pass unless you have the full triforce.”

MANDATORY DUNGEONS AND MINILEVELS:

Kasuto Cave

<no text>

Level 1: Three Eye Rock

Welcome to the first dungeon. There are two items to find here, just like every other dungeon with a triforce piece.

In the ghost town to the west there's a cave that leads south. The woods south by east is where the Moblin Brothers hide. The Serpent's Lair and Abandoned Mansion are in the area too. And Kakariko Village.

Moblin Brothers

The Moblin Borhter hanve a wood arrow somewhere in here. You will need it soon in your quest.

Seek out the mountain full of snakes directly west in the grass woods.

Level 2: Serpent's Lair

This dungeon is filled with snakes. Make sure you get the cross, you will need it soon.

The Abandoned Mansion in west, and check south for Kakariko Village.

Level 3: Abandoned Mansion

Traps await you in this old home, so be careful. The ocarina's hiding place is here, but there is also a useful item near a wooden table.

Go back to where you got the wooden sword. Use the whistle to wake the Guardian. East of the north short is Maze Island. Check out the Old Gambler's Den and the Great Palace on the way if you haven't yet.

Guardian Battle (caves before and after)

Look around the entrance of Darunia for something useful.

East of here is an old forest. It stretches past Nabooru. On the other side of it is Maze Island. The beach town Darunia is west of here.

<no text>

Level 4: Maze Island

Passageways are all over the place in here. You should make a map. And look around the island for a magic container.

West of Kakariko Village is a bridge leading to the Lost Woods. You will get some help from a few women there. Once across, you can find the wand in the graveyard, but the gold is in a dark corner of the Lost Woods.

The Secret Grave

This is a large place to get one item. All keys except two are at dead ends. Each of the two is hidden in s a set of one way doors.

Piece together the parts of the old women's instructions and you will end up at the entrance of the Lost Bastion. You'll need the hookshot and magic book hidden inside to deal with the mountain pass.

Level 5: Lost Bastion

The magic book is not an optional item, so be sure to grab it. And look for a room, flying with two bombable walls in it for the last key.

You can't climb Death Mountain yet, but there is a path to get to the other side. This maze of caves starts at the base of the mountain north of here, but you won't be able to pass without the magic wand and book.

Death Mountain Pass

These caves run through Death Mountain to the other side. You'll need the hookshot, the wand, and the magic book to make it out. Some very old maps might help you if you get lost along the way. <<these caves follow the zelda 2 maps>>

Head west from this cave to Saria. North of Saria is Moruge Swamp, which has a cave that leads up to the mountain town of Ruto. An old lady there can show you the way to go.

Tantari Cave

A hammer was forged in this cave and here it'll stay. Borrow it if you must, but it will not be given up easily.

East there's another desert with a Palace which holds a triforce fragment. You'll need to pass through a cave to get there.

Level 6: Parapa Palace

Full of lies, you will have to see before you find the power glove.

With the glove and the hammer, head east to the town of Mido, there an old woman will show you where to go.

Old King's Tomb

<<no text>>

Level 7: Island Palace

This dungeon holds the fast, but there is there mirror shield as well. The boss is sitting on the bottom floor, but the path to him is not.

The last triforce piece is on Death Mountain. The path up the mountain is alongside the Death Mountain Pass entrance at the mountain's base.

Level 8: Spectacle Rock

You'll finally get the boots in this large mess of room. Good Luck.

Now you have all of the pieces of the triforce. You can't enter North Palace without the flippers, so you must go to Midoro Swamp. The entrance is west of Mido through a cave. Making it to the palace won't be easy, but you are almost there.

Midoro Palace

You'll finally be able to go after Ganon when you finish this level.

Enter the North Palace to fight Ganon. With the flippers there are three more heart container pieces you can find too.

North Castle

You must take the castle back from Ganon. Zelda waits at the top.

North Castle L3

You are almost at the final showdown with Ganon, I wish you luck.

OPTIONAL DUNGEONS:

Old Gamblers Den

The monsters have taken over. Two wallets sit in the enemy's hands. One you can get now, but the other you may have to come back for later.

Fine, take it. Just don't hurt me.

Oh, so the other one wasn't enough? You had to come back for this...

Great Palace

This is a test to gain the King's approval. You will have to make your way through the traps and challenges set forth before he will see you.

Welcome. You have my blessing for making it through this castle. Show this letter to the old women hidden across the land as proof. They can sell you potions to fill your life and jars to fill your magic.

Magical Shortcut

This old place used to be a tunnel system. It somehow became this, but I do not know how this happened. It must be a way to protect something very important. What it is or who put it here is beyond me.

You earned the right to use the famous ____________. Few are the people who have seen it, but many stories have been told about its power. Surely it will help you on your quest.

Water Palace

This perilous dungeon is home to an interesting magical item. It can open almost any door over and over again. You will not find it easy to reach, however. It is well guarded to prevent thieves from owning it.

With this key, you will have a much easier time hunting Ganon down.

Spryte's Fountain

Enter... One hint, break all of the pots in here.

You have passed my test, but this is only the first. See my sister Miff near the Lost Woods when you get the magic wand and book. She can give you another magical stone if you can make it through her test.

Miff's Sanctuary

All three of our homes look the same, but there are differences.

Congratulations on making through my trial. Now you can use fire, setting fear in the minds of your enemies. Use it well. A sister of mine waits for you in the Lost Hills. You'll need the strength to move heavy boulders if you want her to judge you, though.

Oberon's Springs

This place is a little complex compared to my sisters homes. Good Luck

I am the fairy Oberon. Receive this stone for surviving the challenge. This is the last of our tests, but feel free to visit Spryte, Miff, and myself whenever you are nearby.

END CREDITS:
