The Legend of Zelda: The Nine Villages Hyrule was a peaceful land since Ganon had been banished from Spectacle Rock years ago. The land was prosperous, and life was good. The King had recenly finished building a new castle in the northwestern section of Hyrule. Kakariko Village had farmland that provided more than enough for the entire population. Everything was fine, until one day. Ganon appeared out of nowhere. He stole the triforce, but luckily the triforce of wisdom had been split up across the land to keep him from getting his hands on it. He was prevented from entering each of the 8 hiding places. So he waited for somebody else to do his work for him. He captured the princess Zelda and made all of Hyrule a dangerous place. Some of the fields became unable to farm, most of the trade routes were blocked, and some of the villages were running low on supplies, there was nothing the people could do. Ganon attacked the newly built North Castle and took it for miself. Luckily, the King had not had a chance to move everything and make it his new home. The forces of Hyrule were divided, although most of them stood in the Great Palace, an old castle where the kings of Hyrule have ruled for generations. However there was still nothing that could be done. Their forces were barely able to keep the enemy at bay as they charged up the mountain towards the palace gates. It required all their forces just to prevent Ganon's advances from taking the last fortress in Hyrule. There was one village that had to actually move from their homes into the nearby mountains because of Ganon's forces surging through the area towards the Great Palace. A small entourage protects a young swordsman of the Link bloodline as he travels from the Great Palace to the hidden safety of New Kasuto. He must be protected, for someday he would become the hero of Hyrule as his ancestors each did long ago. However, his convoy was ambushed, and the guards slowly fell to the attacks. The young swordsman is finally the last one left, unsure of where to go or what to do. He finds himself unarmed at the entrance of a cave with enemies all around him. A quiet hum comes from the mouth of the cave, and he will soon be forced to enter, where he will take up his quest following a guiding spirit from the past.
